Overview

MetaTag is a browser-based metadata generator designed to work without requiring an account, registration or the submission of personal information.

The information you enter into the generator is processed locally in your browser. MetaTag does not intentionally transmit your form content, imported HTML, page descriptions, titles, URLs, images, structured data or generated code to an application server.

In practical terms: the metadata you create stays on your device unless you choose to copy, download, publish or otherwise share it.

Information entered into the generator

Depending on how you use MetaTag, you may enter information such as:

page titles and descriptions;
canonical URLs;
Open Graph and social media metadata;
image URLs and image descriptions;
robots directives;
theme colors;
JSON-LD structured data;
HTML imported for metadata analysis or extraction.

This content is used only by the code running in your browser to generate, preview, validate or export metadata.

MetaTag does not create a server-side profile from this information and does not use it for advertising, user tracking or behavioural analysis.

Browser storage

MetaTag may use your browser's local storage to preserve selected generator settings and interface preferences between visits. This may include information such as:

your preferred light or dark interface theme;
generator options and selected settings;
draft values or previously entered metadata;
interface state intended to make future visits more convenient.

Local storage is saved by your browser on your device. It is not the same as storing information in a MetaTag user account, because MetaTag does not require or provide user accounts.

You can remove locally stored information by using the Reset function in the generator, clearing site data in your browser settings or using a private browsing session.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

MetaTag does not intentionally use cookies for advertising, behavioural profiling or cross-site tracking.

MetaTag does not currently use third-party advertising services or third-party analytics tools that analyse how individual visitors use the generator.

If analytics, advertising or other tracking technologies are introduced in the future, this Privacy Policy will be updated before or when those technologies are enabled.

Technical requests and hosting data

Like most websites, MetaTag must receive a basic web request when you open a page or download a site asset such as a stylesheet, script, font or icon.

MetaTag is hosted using Firebase Hosting, a service provided by Google. Firebase Hosting and its content delivery infrastructure may process limited technical request information necessary to deliver the website, maintain security, diagnose failures and prevent abuse.

This technical information may include:

an IP address;
browser and device information;
the requested page or asset;
the date and time of the request;
response status and performance information;
referrer information supplied by the browser.

This hosting-level data is separate from the metadata entered into the generator. The generator does not include entered form values in its normal hosting requests.

Google's handling of information within its services is also governed by its own privacy and data-processing terms.

MetaTag does not sell personal information.

MetaTag does not share the content entered into the generator with advertisers, data brokers or marketing platforms.

Technical service providers may process limited information only where necessary to host, secure and deliver the website.

External links

MetaTag may contain links to external websites, documentation, social networks, validators or other third-party resources.

When you follow an external link, the destination website may collect information according to its own privacy policy. MetaTag does not control and is not responsible for the content, availability, security or privacy practices of third-party websites.

You should review the privacy policy of any external service before providing information to it.

Security

MetaTag is designed to minimise privacy risks by performing generator operations locally whenever practical and by avoiding unnecessary user accounts and server-side storage.

However, no website, browser, device or network connection can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are responsible for protecting access to your device, browser profile and any metadata you choose to copy, export or publish.

Avoid entering passwords, authentication tokens, private API keys, confidential personal information or other sensitive secrets into any metadata field.

Data retention and deletion

MetaTag does not maintain a server-side database of generator drafts or generated metadata.

Information stored locally remains in your browser until it is overwritten, reset or removed through your browser settings.

Technical information handled by the hosting provider may be retained according to the provider's operational, security and legal requirements.

Children's privacy

MetaTag is a general-purpose developer tool and is not specifically directed at children.

The service does not knowingly request names, contact details or account information from children. If you believe that personal information has been submitted through a MetaTag contact channel by a child, please use the Contact page to request its review or deletion.

International processing

Hosting and infrastructure providers may operate servers and content delivery systems in multiple countries. As a result, limited technical request information may be processed outside the country from which you access MetaTag.

This does not change the local processing model used for metadata entered into the generator.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated when MetaTag changes its features, hosting infrastructure or privacy practices, or when clarification is needed.

The latest version will be published on this page. The Last updated date at the top of the page indicates when the policy was most recently revised.

Material changes affecting how information is processed will be described clearly in the updated policy.
